To transfer your current mobile phone number, make sure it's still active. You will also need your account number from your previous carrier, and the PIN/password associated with it.

When a phone is unlocked, it can be used across carriers. Check your phone with your current carrier, since they would have to unlock it for you.

You will need a SIM card to activate your phone, although depending on your phone it may be an eSIM or a physical SIM card. Your SIM card holds the information a carrier needs to tie a phone number to a mobile phone.
An eSIM is the latest type of SIM card, built directly into your phone. Contrast this to physical SIM cards, which need to be manually transferred between phones.
Activating a phone with eSIM is faster and safer, but your phone needs to be eSIM-compatible. With eSIM, you don't have to wait to activate your phone.
